Job Description

Accountable for analyzing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and repairing network infrastructure and associated application components. Performs a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the computer network meets company and end-user satisfaction. Also provides direction, information and recommendations regarding security, network configurations and installations.  
Predominately a Cisco shop (including Nexus 7K and 2K FEX), and uses OSPF and BGP routing protocols.  Fortinet Fortigate firewalls, Citrix Netscaler, and Avaya VOIP/SIP.  Serves 19 remote branches and a centralized Data Center. The company is moving to SD-WAN (VeloCloud), with advanced terrestrial primary and wireless secondary connections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  
  • Install, configure, maintain and decommission complex switching and routing environments.
  • Apply complex networking principles to facilitate standardized and best practice configurations (DNS, WINS, IP, HTTP, VPN, LAN, WAN, ether-channel, VLAN, STP, MSTP, OSPF, VTP, etc.).
  • Install, configure, maintain and decommission complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access. This includes controllers, access points, load balancers, WAN optimizers, etc.
  • Install, configure, maintain and decommission complex traffic shaping and prioritization to support protocols such as VolP, RDP and Citrix..
  • Maintain multi-site network operations and software applications, operating systems, and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, telephones, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot carrier circuits in varying type and protocols (i.e. TI, PRI, MPLS).
  • Monitor network performance against baselines and respond to anomalies.
  • Configure redundancy where designed so that computing services to customers remain uninterrupted when a failure occurs.
  • Follow ITIL and ITSM practices, completing assigned tickets within Service Level Standards.
  • Perform changes to network environment under strict change control guidelines, ensuring minimal to zero negative impact on computing environment due to change tasks.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College University. 8+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to design network solutions to meet business goals.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be skilled in general purpose office software.  They should also be capable of being skilled in applicable software related to IT networking, monitoring, systems & security.
