Job Description

Summary: The Patient Service Department is the voice of the organization and is the primary resource for patients and physicians to obtain information and answers to questions. This position manages the daily activities related to patient services and is responsible to ensure all Patient Service Associates are accurately, thoroughly and in a time-sensitive manner processing patient orders and providing clear and timely communication to all stakeholders.  
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 
  • Understands and abides by Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) requirements.
  • Understands when to use and how to properly complete an Advanced Beneficiary Notices (ABN) as applicable.
  • Thoroughly understands how to process payer authorizations and follows up on request frequently and timely.
  • Communicates all aspects and status of an order to appropriate parties in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Establishes positive relationships with referral sources, other departments and centers, and associated entities.
  • Contacts patients with patient financial responsibility and consistently collects payments from patients prior to delivery when applicable.
  • Accurately and in a timely manner submits all Payer Change Requests.

Education/Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalency. Bachelor or Associates degree preferred. Recent home care/infusion experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages team of employees within the team. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
