Job Description

The IT Business Intelligence “BI” Developer IV is responsible for design, development and maintaining business intelligence solutions – turning data into knowledge.  The IT BI Developer IV should be analytical, an excellent communicator, and have solid team collaboration experience with proven problem-solving aptitude.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 
  1. Translates business needs to technical specifications.
  2. Uses enterprise class Microsoft BI technology stack at an expert level.
  3. Utilizes source code management tools such as Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, etc. at an expert level.  Perform basic checkout/check-in processes, changesets, history, etc. in day to day work. 
  4. Develops SQL queries, including stored procedures, functions, DMV’s, etc. at an expert level
  5. Creates, deploys, and schedules jobs utilizing stored procedures.
  6. Designs, develops and deploys ETL solutions at an expert level, utilizing BIMs, DAX, PowerPivot, etc.
  7. Interprets and tunes actual and estimated execution planners in determining optimal query performance and tuning at an expert level.
  8. Develops and implements ‘best practice’ architectural designs for data storage, processing, and analysis.
  9. Develops tools to facilitate knowledge-based research and decisions such as operational data and processing scans, interdependencies, etc.
  10. Facilitates implementation of automated processes, as well as mentoring others in efficient work and data management practices.
  11. Facilitates cross-team collaboration in support of development initiatives.
12.    Guides less experienced developers in delivering BI/Visualization dashboards, reporting, solving queries and handling support escalations.
13.    Conducts ongoing BI market tool research and evaluation, with a strong focus on the evolution of the Microsoft BI stack suite of tools for both cloud and on-premises analytics.
14.    Utilizes at least 2 of the following BI Reporting Technologies (SSRS, PowerPivot, Tableau, etc.) at an expert level.
15.    Designs and develops complex SSAS scripting.
16.    Develops data warehousing practices and perform data normalization, data security, architecture, design, and maintenance.
17.    Creates, maintains, and manages user roles.
18.    Backs-up, archives and restores data and databases.
20.    Manages projects and conducts code reviews and quality control.

  1. Minimum education and/or experience equivalent to either:
  • Bachelor’s degree w/minimum 8+ years’ related experience; OR
  • Associate’s degree with 10+ years’ related experience; OR
  • 12+ years’ related experience if no degree; OR
  • A combination of equivalent related experience and certification resulting in ability to perform duties.
  1. Healthcare and Logistics technology and experience is expected
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have:
  • mastery of SQL server administration duties including performance and tuning,
  • wide range of enterprise level BI technology platforms and toolsets, including but not limited to the Microsoft BI stack.  
  • comprehensive ETL/ELT development and user administration, server connectivity, and all standard available Microsoft office products is expected.
