Job Description

The IT Business Intelligence “BI” Developer III is responsible for design, development and maintaining business intelligence solutions – turning data into knowledge.  The IT BI Developer III should be analytical, an excellent communicator, and have solid team collaboration experience with proven problem-solving aptitude.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 
  1. Translates business needs to technical specifications.
  2. Uses enterprise class Microsoft BI technology and industry standard BI technology stacks to perform day to day work.
  3. Utilizes source code management tools such as Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, etc. Perform basic checkout/check-in processes, changesets, history, etc. 
  4. Develops SQL queries, including stored procedures, functions, DMV’s, triggers, etc.
  5. Creates keys and indices (clustered, unique, and non-clustered) for optimal query performance.
  6. Creates, deploys and schedules jobs, utilizing stored procedures.
  7. Creates and deploys SSRS reports to Report Manager using data patterns, KPI’s, Dashboards, and industry standard analytical visualization tools (SSRS, Excel, Tableau, etc.).
  8. Uses solid SQL standards and practices including build/deploy processes, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
  9. Locates, opens, modifies, and creates complex SSIS packages.
  10. Uses Visual Basic, C# and similar scripting languages as needed to perform daily work.
  11. Develops comprehensive SSAS code, including development of facts and dimensions.  Use MDX queries to maintain and manipulate Cube data and structure. 
  12. Designs, develops and deploys ETL solutions, including but not limited to SSIS scripts with BIMs, DAX, PowerPivot, etc.
  13. Designs and data model ETLs, tables, databases, triggers, and event notifications.
  14. Performs query performance tuning and optimizations including DTA, etc.  Identifies, analyzes, and corrects slow performing queries, functions, etc.
  15. Develops EDI files, formats, mapping tools and secured file exchanges.
  16. Uses established change control and troubleshooting tracking and resolution, using industry standard tools.
  17. Collaborates with other IT teams and vendors in support of development initiatives.  Work independently on assigned tasks.

Education/Experience:
Requires:
  1. Minimum education and/or experience equivalent to either
    • Bachelor’s degree with minimum 4-7 years related experience; OR
    • Associate’s degree with 6+ years related experience; OR
    • 8+ years related experience if no degree; OR
    • Combination of related experience and certification resulting in ability to perform duties listed above. 
  2. Healthcare and Logistics technology experience highly desirable. 
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have:
  • working knowledge of SQL server administration duties including performance and tuning
  • enterprise class Microsoft BI technology & industry standard BI technology stacks
  • ETL development and basic administration
  • user administration and server connectivity and administration
  • and all standard available Microsoft office products.
